HOW DID WE START?

The North Loose Residents Association was formed in 2003 and our first campaign was to challenge the proposal to build a major supermarket on the Loose Road.   The supermarket chain finally withdrew its application and the Association has since been run as a voice for the people of our area.

We undertook our own traffic survey (with the aid of our members as volunteers) to ensure that we had up to date traffic information that we could rely on.

We also dealt with an issue which concerned many residents, when a mobile phone company wished to install a communications mast in the area.   This project did not go ahead.

We continue to be active in representing the views of our members in a variety of ways:

  • co-ordinating comments regarding planning applications and speaking at Planning Committee;
  • meeting with officials from Maidstone Borough Council regarding various planning applications and administrative procedures;
  • meeting with officials from Kent County Council regarding traffic issues;
  • meeting with members of the Police regarding graffiti and petty crime in the area;
  • acting as consultees on various issues raised by local authorities.
